Advice on Swift Car Insurance

It is a legal requirement that drivers or owners of a motorised vehicle for example a car, motorbike or lorry then you must be insured to legally drive on the roads of the UK. Swift Car Insurance is a great way to ensure both the safety of yourself and those that may be in the car with you and also to ensure that you are within the law and will not face any fines or penalties.

Motor insurance can be a daunting and complicated arena as there are literally hundreds of policies to choose from and they can have huge variations. Finding the right one for you can be difficult. We have written this advice to help you understand the jargon a bit more and help find the best insurance for you and your vehicle.

Comprehensive Policies

Full cover to your vehicle is known as Comprehensive insurance and will generally protect you from damage to your vehicle from a myriad of different reasons, including accidents, fire and theft, and vandalism. Some policies will also include additional benefits such as some cover for stolen items from your vehicle, medical expenses and personal accident protection.

It is worth checking what is not covered in your policy however as even most  'comprehensive' insurance will contain limitations and exclusions.

Uninsured Loss Recovery (ULR)

This will generally provide cover for legal expenses to pay for a solicitor in the event that it is necessary to recover your uninsured losses from a guilty third party. This can include policy excess, hire car charge or any additional  expenses caused by a third party. Additionally costs encurred making a personal injury claim can also be recovered. ULR in many cases can also provide free 24 hour cover and legal advice of a personal nature.

Third Party Only Policies

There are many different types of cover you can get with your Swift Car Insurance. The term 'third party only' is one you will probably come across quite regularly as it is the minimum cover you can get and to the most cost effective. With this type of policy you will typically be covered if you injure someone else (ie a third party) or damage their vehicle and or property. However, it is worth being aware that there are not many insurance providers who will offer this cover alone and some may insist you take it in conjunction with another policy.

Fire And Theft Policies

Another common policy that offers a greater degree of cover is 'fire and theft' car insurance. Typically this can provide you with protection against loss of  and damage to your vehicle if it is a victim of theft or fire. Most theft and fire policies will not cover you should you experience damage to your vehicle through either a road collision or from vandalism.
